Chooks (chickens) have been domesticated for many centuries. They come from the rainforests of Malaysia to free love. Chooks are such easy animals to care for, can make great pets for children and are a valuable resource for the organic gardener.
YouÂ'll need to check with your local council for information its regulations. Some tips wonÂ't let you keep any poultry, while others willa-some even allow roosters.

Basic requirements

* Dry, Fox-proof shelter

* A safe place to lay their eggs and hatch chicks (if you have a cock)

* The perch resting off the ground (about Allow 20 cm per bird)

* Pellets layer (or break down chicken) should make most of their diet.

* Wheat, corn or other grains should be offered occasionally, but not the majority of their diet

* The Birds do not have teeth, they swallow small stones or grit to grind their food in the gizzard. They should have access to a supply of sand for this purpose.

* Never feed chocolate, coffee, avocado or rhubarb, because they are toxic to Chooks

* It should always have access to clean water and fresh.

If you plan on letting your Chooks Dona't outdoors in a garden area during the day, will be much happier if they offer a career out of where you can scratch the ground and enjoy from sunlight.
Lock my Chooks from sunset to midday. In this way almost always theyÂ've their eggs by then, so must Dona't go to daily egg hunt! Old-receptor Grass engines lawn laying boxes make great A-just the right size and provide ventilation.

Liquid fertilizer

Chook manure is an ideal base for liquid fertilizer or to add to your compost heap. You never use it cool, although, as poultry manure also contains the urine and can burn their crops.
To make a liquid manure, place it in a porous bag in a bucket and fill the bucket with water. After three weeks or so you can use water in and around your plants, diluted to look like weak tea.

If you provide a layer of straw, hay or sawdust in your chooka cameras that will make him an ideal composite for you. They scratch, add manure and back. You can add layers of this organic material to your compost heap or allowed to become a fine, dark substance.
