The two methods are the nutrient solution and sand / gravel method, if you could use diagrams would be really useful.

It would take too long to develop and further analysis and the best thing I can do is point in the right direction ... have a look at the link. Nutient film technique (NFT), but not heard of sand and gravel method. There are flood and drainage systems beater, plus some other techniques today.
